Ants Aunts and Funerals;

Every human relationship can be fraught with difficulties. None more so than family relationships.
We each go through stages in our lives. Many of us experience the joys and frustrations of caring for elderly members of our family and then, we in turn, become the older generation.
Michael and his wife Julie, a middle aged couple care for their ageing Aunt Alice and Uncle Rodger. They are requested to drive the old couple to a funeral in the Victorian countryside.
Past experience has taught them a day with this frustrating pair can be fraught with problems. This time even they underestimate what is to come.
This is a romp through the trials of trying to mix the generations of the 20th century and the new computer age of the 21st century.
All the way during possibly the worst weather Mother Nature can provide, they travel to a funeral and onto a wake attended by characters the like of which Michael has never met.
Then once more the ants rear their ugly pincers and Michael is in strife and almost arrested for extortion at a roadhouse.
You will laugh and perhaps cry a little as you empathise with both couples.
This is a snapshot taken from life which just has to have you giggling and wondering what is in store for you.

I tried really hard to give this book 5 stars. Alas, it can't happen. I just loved the tale. It was hilarious. It was perfect and great for a recent rainy afternoon when all I wanted to do was curl up on the couch with a funny book.Elizabeth can surely tell an amusing story. However, I think she should fire the two ladies she acknowledges as helping her edit. I am not a snob about editing but the lack of it does get in my way when reading. Don't get me wrong, the book is not riddled with errors; just enough to make it distracting. I don't like it when my mind wanders off and starts to pick them out on it's own. I will be glad to do a read-through of any future books, for free, with a red pencil in hand.
That being said, GET THIS BOOK. You will enjoy reading the mishaps that occur when Julie and Michael try to do the right thing by taking their elderly, very elderly, Aunt and Uncle to a family member's funeral 2 hours from home. I kept thinking what MORE can happen. Then, of course, something more horrible DOES happen. Especially affecting poor Michael. He's really in over his head with those 2.
Believe me you WILL laugh.
